The James Hotel

I called to reserve a table and pressed 2 to reach the restaurant. When we arrived, the booking was in the pub area by the kitchen door, with no atmosphere and waiters constantly passing behind me. The chairs were like bar stools and uncomfortable for sitting long, so we left after dinner instead of staying for a drink and live music. If I wanted the pub, I would have chosen it. The hotel has a restaurant, so I’m left wondering where it is.

I watched the programme about the hotel’s “making off” and told my husband we had to go. We had the best stay ever. The welcome was warm, the room was a bonus, and the friendly staff were just what we needed. It was worth every euro, great value for money. We had the dinner, breakfast and cocktail package, and we’ll definitely go back. I’d highly recommend staying here. Thanks for my ducky too! ;)

We had a wonderful evening at The James Bar, and the hotel’s quality and efficiency were impeccable. As a Mixologist Bartender myself, I loved the cocktails. Kiera / Ciara and Ellen made them with such passion and love, and their personalities and enthusiasm for Mixology Bartending really stood out. I’d highly recommend stopping in for a heavenly evening drink and great service. Many thanks from Michelle / Sarah / Connor.

The main drawback is that there’s no on-site parking, though an easy public parking lot is nearby for €3/day. Also, live music in the bar on certain nights goes past midnight, which isn’t ideal for light sleepers. On the plus side, the restaurant downstairs was good for dinner, the included breakfast was very good, and the rooms were clean, in a safe location, and had air conditioning.
