Ard Ri House Hotel

It’s a perfectly fine, standard three-star hotel, and there isn’t much choice in Tuam anyway. You won’t go wrong staying here. I did miss having a charger socket beside the bed, and the shower was a bit odd, with part of the button coming away in my hand. Still, no major problem.

The hotel is dated and seems popular with older guests, but it worked for what we needed. The staff were pleasant throughout. We stayed three nights in September. Our twin room looked onto a wall and sat above the area where they keep the beer kegs, so there was a lot of noise late at night and early in the morning. The shower only gave us hot or burning hot water, even after we reported it on the first two mornings. We were moved to a ground-floor room on our last night, where the shower was fine, but the WiFi barely worked.

The main annoyance was the lack of a socket by the bed. Every plug was across the room, which made charging my phone overnight awkward. My workmate had the same issue in his room, so it seems to affect all the rooms. I was in Tuam for work for three nights. The rooms were clean, spacious, and quiet enough to sleep well. Breakfast was decent before heading to site, the staff were sound, and there’s plenty of parking. Sort out the bedside plugs and it’d be spot-on.

I was there for two weeks and really enjoyed my stay. The rooms were roomy and clean, the restaurant and breakfast were great, and the staff were both friendly and professional. They can arrange taxis if you don’t have a car, too. A great option in Tuam for work or a holiday.
