We really enjoyed the cottage. Mrs Garvey welcomed us warmly and explained everything we needed to know. It's a great base for exploring the peninsula, with hiking tracks just down the road to the left and a beautiful little cove to discover. A fantastic stay, even with the awful weather.

Joan pointed us toward a path to a private cove, which was a must-see, and another clearly marked route down to the lake. We even saw the cows being milked and visited the museum across the road. Her tips on scenic drives and things to see were great. The room and breakfast were perfect, and I’d definitely return. We also loved the lake and fields from our bedroom window, especially at sunrise. The best stay of my two weeks!

The cows were fun to watch, and we enjoyed visiting Tom while he milked them. Be sure to see the ancient standing stones on the property. Joan was such a sweet host and made us a delicious breakfast. The rooms were cozy, clean, and comfortable.

The house was adequate and breakfast was good, but we found little to do nearby. The photos had left us expecting a view of the coastline, though it turned out to be quite far away and over a hill. Others might enjoy the rural setting more. Compared with places like Murphy's in Dingle, which was excellent, this stay didn't have much to offer. By the time we left, the host was pleasant and we got along fine. Perhaps I caught her on a bad day, but it was an unfortunate start to the holiday, and every other place we stayed in Ireland was great. We arrived after an overnight flight without sleep, then spent four hours learning to drive a left-hand shift on the other side of the road. I’d been looking forward to the scones, tea, and ocean views I’d seen in reviews and photos. After being shown our two rooms, I asked once whether they were what I had reserved, since we had six different B&Bs booked and each arrangement was different. She showed me the printout, and I said that was fine. Then she repeatedly said we could leave if we weren't happy and asked if I was sure we wanted to stay. She also said we had upset her and the girl helping her. I never got angry or raised my voice. It was shocking to feel so unwelcome after the long journey, especially with my four kids there.

This is definitely a FARMhouse, and still a working dairy farm where you can watch the cows being milked. The hosts are VERY friendly. The house was full when we visited, and the kids were quite noisy for a while. Luckily we were on the ground floor, so bringing in the luggage was easy, and we could park right out front. Wonderful people.
