Woodlands

It feels like a resort here, and the hotel is quite good. The rooms are large, the service is good and breakfast is very good. There are lots of amenities and everything was very clean. The rooms do seem quite old compared with other hotels I’ve stayed at in Waterford. It’s also a fair distance from the city, so you’d need a bus or cab to get to the city center.

A walk-in shower would have helped guests with mobility issues, so its absence was a little disappointing. Otherwise, it’s a very nice hotel in a great location for exploring Waterford. The staff are great, the food is good and reasonably priced.

The room was massive, but it was freezing all night, and there were stains on the mattresses. The tea mugs weren’t clean, and the blinds wouldn’t close properly, so I had to brace them with a chair. When I called reception about water, they basically told me I’d have to come and get it. It was the same when I asked for a toothbrush. Getting the internet password by phone took an hour, and then it didn’t work. I travel a lot for work and have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the country. This place was particularly outdated, and I was put in a family room. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know.

Padel Tennis is easy for anyone to pick up and fun straight away. I’ve played here a few times with family and friends, and the court and racket rental is fairly priced. I’m not a member, so there may be extra benefits if you are. The staff were friendly too. The only annoying bit is needing to download Glofox to book a court, though it’s simple enough. I can definitely recommend it as a fun random activity, and I’ll be back.
