The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are really friendly. I also liked the excellent, fairly priced food and very good breakfast. The swimming pool was good too. One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in.

There was plenty of space in the room, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. Parking was adequate, and you can walk to everything in Westport. I didn’t try the restaurants or gym and spa, though they seemed nice. It’s a full service hotel just outside the town centre, run professionally. They host many tour and event groups, and the service stayed consistently very good. No qualms.

Coveys is in a central spot and the food was good. The Irish staff gave us good service, but after the staff changed just after lunch, we had trouble making ourselves understood by a waitress who didn’t speak English very well.

Claudia at the front desk saved our evening after we arrived in Westport late, wet and dishevelled, on the way to Galway. We hadn’t known about the bluegrass events, and there was no hotel space, so we left the car and walked around looking for somewhere to sleep. We were absolutely exhausted, but Claudia worked her computer magic and found us a room. It was lovely, with windows that opened. Who knew fresh air would be rationed for health and safety? Thank heavens for common sense. We stayed two nights and will be back. Thank you, Claudia. Julia and Roger

We spent close to €900 in total on two nights B&B, an evening meal, drinks, spa treatments, tips and extras. Since it wasn’t a cheap stay, it felt like a real treat after a very busy few weeks at work. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the shower great. It was lovely and quiet at night, and not overheated, so we slept well both nights. Breakfast had loads of choice and was excellent. I also booked two treatments in the beautiful spa, and Roberta and Annie were fantastic therapists. The thermal suite, though, didn’t feel worth visiting. The hotel is in a very central spot in Westport, and overall it was a lovely two-night break. The checkout left a bit of a sour note. I was told there was €6 outstanding, so I asked what it was for. It turned out to be €5 to add chicken to a starter salad and €1 for cheese on a burger during the included dinner. We’d been told the steak had a supplement but everything else was included, so that night we only paid the steak supplement, wine and drinks. The amount was tiny, but after spending so much, chasing us for those small additions felt unnecessarily petty and left a bad taste after an otherwise enjoyable stay. A lovely hotel in many ways, though a little more common sense would help.
