The apartment was cosy and comfortable at first, and it looked clean on the surface, but the bed sheets were stained. Room service was nonexistent, the toiletries weren’t replenished, and our bins overflowed. The neighbours were incredibly noisy at all hours, and we had mosquitoes for unwanted company. I’d hoped to be closer to Damascus gate. It’s around a 30 minute walk to al aqsa, so if visiting al aqsa is the main reason for your trip, I’d choose a hotel near Damascus gate.

The family room was spotless and thoughtfully set up, with a living area, kitchenette, bedroom, air conditioning and a TV in each room, plus a little jacuzzi in the bathroom. Roni was patient and attentive whenever we asked for something. We spent two nights at Tisch Hotel and found it great value. It’s in a quiet side street in an old renovated stone building, yet Neve'im Street, Music Square, Machane Yehuda Market and the Herkel axis are all a short walk away. Keep in mind there’s no elevator, and the narrow stairs could be awkward with a stroller or suitcases.

For 400 NIS per couple per night, including a baby, this was a great deal, and they even provided a crib. The rooms were very clean, with plenty of towels and bedding. There’s a bedroom, plus a tiny sitting area with a sofa, table and two chairs, and a kitchenette equipped with a Nespresso machine, microwave and small fridge. It’s a charming little hotel tucked into a peaceful alley in the center, with self check-in. The bathroom creaked, and we had no hot water for a shower, so check that first.

I’m already planning my next Jerusalem trip around staying here again. This apartment hotel made our two days in the city feel magical, and the prices are especially reasonable. From the quiet lane, it’s just a short walk to the lively center, Machane Yehuda Market and Jaffa Center. The room had an upgraded kitchen and a vintage look, including a chandelier on the ceiling. If you want an authentic Jerusalem atmosphere, this is a lovely spot. I highly recommend it to tourists and local Israelis alike.
