Arrandale House

The best part for me was the breakfast: fresh, filling, and cooked to order every morning. The guesthouse felt very welcoming, with friendly staff and clean rooms serviced daily. Our room and bathroom were spacious, and the views were good. The furniture may be a little dated, but it’s perfectly serviceable. I had a really relaxing stay.

We spent four nights at the Arrandale in July 2025 and had a pleasant stay. Our large room had a great view of Douglas Bay, and the bathroom was spotless. The shower got hot and had excellent pressure. Breakfast was generous, with options including a full English or Manx, plus cereal, yoghurts and toast. The owner and staff were friendly, and the hotel sits in a quiet area with a pleasant green square in front. Both of us would stay again and recommend it. I was impressed by Douglas too. It feels like a classic resort, is well kept, and has some nice bars and restaurants to visit. Excellent stuff.

When our ferry back to Liverpool was cancelled on the last night, Reumen and his wife noticed how stressed we were and looked after us in the bar. They made a difficult situation a lot better. Their lasagna and jacket potato were amazing, as were the cheese and tomato toasties. Scott also kindly let us use a room to store all our luggage and stay in until the evening, free of charge. The service and food were amazing throughout. Scott, the room service, and Reumen and his wife in the bar and kitchen were all wonderful. We had requested three ground-floor rooms, but there aren't any, so we were given three rooms together on the first floor. The place is dog friendly, and we enjoyed playing cards in the lounge each evening until it closed at 11 pm. Housekeeping were helpful and friendly as well. These people clearly love their jobs, and their happiness spreads to the guests. I can't recommend the place enough. Thanks for all your help. We'll visit again!

The staff were lovely and accommodating, and breakfast was tasty with a good choice of food. I also stayed in for dinner one evening, and it was delicious. I’d definitely return. My small double was comfortable, very clean and neat, with plenty of tea and coffee supplies. There wasn’t any decaf tea or alternative milk in the room, though. I could open the window for fresh air, and the bed was so comfortable that I slept really well, which is unusual for me as a light sleeper in an unfamiliar bed. The walls are quite thin, but that didn’t stop me sleeping well. I also liked being able to put a sign on the door if I didn’t need the room cleaned. The shower room was small. The shower took a while to warm up and leaked, though the pressure was good. There was no shelf for soap, so I had to balance it on the shower control. Plenty of towels, and the toilet paper was good quality, three-ply. My room was on the top floor, with views over the rooftops towards the seafront. There’s no lift, and the stairs were a pain. The hotel is up a steep hill too, though I suppose that was good exercise. It’s not too far from central Douglas.
