The staff were all really nice, and breakfast had lots of choice, from a full English to cereal and fruit. I booked the cheapest room, which was a big mistake. It was on the top floor at the back and hotter than hell in summer. I barely slept during our two days there. Aside from that, it was good, and I'd stay again, but only in a sea-view room.

The room was lovely and spacious, and the staff were wonderful, helpful and very friendly. It's a very good-quality place in a handy central spot on the Douglas seafront. Buses, electric, horse and steam railways, and the ferry terminal are all a short walk away.

The buffet breakfast was great, and we'd happily return. Even the basic rooms are well fitted out, though the view isn't much. For a fairly small extra charge, a sea-view room makes a big difference, and we didn't notice the pedestrian crossing. My only gripe was the electrician, who couldn't find the light switch and had to hunt for the razor socket.

Never again. The nightclub next door was noisy until 3 am, so we got no sleep. The hotel was very hot everywhere, badly needs updating, and felt very basic. The beds were uncomfortable, the food was poor, and the bathroom was damp and smelly.

Basic rooms, but really clean, and the beds are comfortable. The staff are nice, friendly and helpful, and the location is just perfect. It was really hot in the rooms at this time of year, though. Air-conditioning would make a huge difference. Cheap and cheerful xx
