The Devonian

Breakfast was delicious, and everything was so clean. We stayed two nights and loved how central the hotel was, it made getting around really easy. The staff were lovely and helpful the whole time, and you can tell they care about their guests. Cleanest hotel we’ve ever stayed in, honestly. We’ll be back on our next Isle of Man trip. Highly recommend it.

The owners and staff were lovely, and the breakfast was fabulous. The décor was great too, and overall it’s a very nice place. My room and ensuite were cute, with clean towels and a little kettle plus plenty of tea and coffee. One check-in hiccup: the door was locked at 15:00, even though the description said it was open until 18:30, and an email mix-up meant I hadn’t got an access code. My phone wasn’t working for calls, so I had to borrow phones from two pedestrians to call the hotel. The room stayed freezing all night despite the radiator being on full heat, because the window insulation was poor, and I slept very badly. The TV picture was really dark too, and I couldn’t figure out how to adjust it.

The breakfast is well worth including with your booking. There were cereals, yogurt and fruit, plus an à la carte menu for the main dish. Kevin made me the best Eggs Royale. The Devonian is easy to find on one of Douglas’s main streets, and Harris Promenade is just a few minutes’ walk away if you’re taking the bus. Kevin was so humble. My room was very clean and had water, tea and coffee, while the bathroom had a standing shower, towels and body wash.

Kevin, the owner, was so helpful and happy to sort out anything. The hotel is really well placed for everything, and my room was spotless. Lovely breakfast, and the best coffee! I booked online and couldn’t have picked better. Highly recommend.
