Glen Mona

The kitchen had loads of utensils and appliances, which would be useful if you like cooking, and there’s also a tub. Otherwise, I was disappointed I hadn’t checked the Google ratings first. The place was underground with steep stairs and no lift. The room looked like nobody had stayed there for a long time, and there were big spiders. I found long worms or insects in the toilet bowl, which scared the hell out of me. It looked decent on the surface, but it didn’t seem like many guests were there during my stay. Some towels were dirty, and one was damp for some reason. It was also a bit far to walk to the centre.

The breakfast looked awful but, surprisingly, tasted nice. The room lights didn’t work, and the shower had just two settings, hot and extra hot. It was an attic room with a ceiling too low for anyone but small children. The curtains were paper thin, so lots of light came in when I was trying to sleep in the morning.

The room was cold and damp, with a musty smell and noise coming through. The beds and linen were poor quality, staff weren't helpful, and the place was expensive. It doesn't feel like a four-star guest house and isn't worthy of its rating. A poor reflection on Isle of Man tourism and hospitality. Avoid it.

The staff made our stay especially nice. Everyone was friendly and happy to help, and the bar staff would chat with us while we had a drink and check that we had what we needed. Our twin room was roomy and very, very clean. We'd definitely come back to Glen Mona Hotel x
