What I’ll remember most is the time in the kitchen learning to make masala chai, and the generous breakfast conversations with Mr and Ms Agarwal, about everything from favourite films to how life in India has changed over the past 50 years. They’re patient, generous hosts. Mukesh and his wife also invited me on a calm sunrise walk and gentle jog, followed by a short yoga session in the garden. We saw other walkers and cows, and it felt like a lovely glimpse of everyday Indian life. As a woman travelling alone, I felt safe and welcome. The family are lovely and lively, and they offered helpful advice on bargaining for a fair price at the markets. The homestay sits in a quiet corner away from downtown traffic. Inside, it’s very clean, cheerfully decorated and homey. My second-floor room was cool and well equipped. There was a shared space and table for spreading out a map or catching up on work emails, and the WiFi was great. The open rooftop was cool at night and had a nice view. This was the best part of my October visit to Agra. If I could give six stars, I would! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
