Hotel Aurus

The staff at reception, in the restaurant, and on room service were quick to help. I was there for work, and the hotel is easy to find right on the main road. The rooms are roomy, though the sheets and towels seemed worn and no longer properly white; the towels were thin too. Breakfast was okay, but the idli was a bit hard and there was only packaged juice. Room facilities were basic, with a TV and tea and coffee, and the toiletries were limited to a dental kit, shampoo, and bathing soap.

I’m not vegetarian, but I keep choosing this place because the rooms and restaurant are kept hygienic. We’ve stayed here many times. There’s a good range at the buffet breakfast, including juices and salads. Dinner is included with the MAP plan and ordered at the table. It can take a while to arrive, but the taste is excellent and there are lots of tasty vegetarian options.

The food tastes good and isn’t overloaded with chillies. There’s a wide choice, though the gravy is watery rather than thick. It’s vegetarian only. Service was helpful and staff spoke frankly, but lunch service after 2 pm was slow, with staff split between a pre-arranged buffet party and the other restaurant and bar. The ambience is good.

The room and ambience were great, and check-in and checkout were very quick. The AC wouldn’t go below 17°C, though. Breakfast gets 4/5 from me, with several dishes needing improvement. For a high-end hotel, water bottles should be complimentary. I’d give the place 4.5/5 overall, one of the finest hotels in Nagar city.
