Bamboo Lagoon Backwater Front Resort

This was my third visit to Alleppey, and Bamboo Lagoon Resort was our favorite stay so far. Lakshmanan was especially friendly and there whenever we needed anything. If we come to Alappuzha again, this hidden gem will be our first choice. Thanks to the team at bamboo lagoon for the wonderful hospitality.

Getting around was a hassle because each time we left or returned, we had to ask staff to ferry us across by small boat. We couldn't come and go freely and had to rely on staff availability. We had booked two nights, but left early for Udday Backwater Resort, which we personally found much better and would recommend instead. I also asked about a shikara ride. The manager quoted ₹1500 an hour, saying their boat was larger. Locally, the boats looked similar and were commonly offered for around ₹600 per hour, so the quote felt misleading. The food put us off as well. After one meal, we chose not to eat there again. The pineapple juice tasted watered down, the paneer butter masala wasn't pleasant, the rice quality was poor, and the salad didn't look fresh. In the bathroom, there was visible mould on several spots, including the shower curtain and door, which made it feel unhygienic and poorly maintained. The stay was disappointing, didn't meet our expectations, and we wouldn't stay here again.

The food was excellent, with fresh traditional dishes that were full of flavor. Staff were warm, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout. The landscaped garden added charm and was lovely for photos, while the tranquil backwater views and houseboats drifting past made for an idyllic setting.

We chose a villa for our two families, and it was a really peaceful, calm stay at bamboo lagoon resort. All the staff were very good. Special thanks to Mr,Laxman, who is in charge of the resort.
