Kasar Rainbow Yoga Retreat

We were well looked after by the Sihvraj ji and Kamal ji team, who made the food and comforts feel just like home. They can also arrange a two-wheeler and transport if you want to explore. The atmosphere at Kasar Rainbow Yoga Retreat is amazing, with fresh air all around. The rooms are clean and cozy, and while November to December nights can drop to 3-4 degrees, room heaters are available on request. I spent seven amazing days in Kasar, Almora. The retreat is about 1 km from Kasar Devi Temple, so it’s a convenient base for spiritual seekers who want to visit Kasar Maa often. I went there 3-4 times during my stay and still miss the place. The price felt right for the facilities, not so high that it would make a hole in your pocket. The owner, Mr. Sabu Mehra, is friendly and has beautiful stories from his travel expeditions. After the long, tiring journey to Almora, this place felt like coming home. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and thoughtfully looked after, with a comfortable, homely feel throughout. The staff were warm, kind, and always ready to help, and the owner deserves a special mention for making us feel genuinely welcome, like family. The property is in Kasar Devi, close to the Kasar Devi Temple, with stunning mountain and clear Himalayan views. The local food was absolutely delicious and clearly made with care. If you ask for something special, they’re happy to prepare it. Everything felt done with love and attention to detail. They also have excellent high-speed internet, a nice extra. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Almora, Kasar Devi Temple, or planning a trip to Jageshwar.

The open terrace gets plenty of sunshine and has breathtaking views of the Kumayun range and Kasar Devi Mandir. The brunch and dinner were fresh and delicious, with a cosy, homely feel. The owner and staff were cordial, and Shivraj ji was always close by whenever we needed service. The place is full of natural beauty and serenity, making it very good for a holiday. The only difficulty is the stairs and uphill road for older people. Even so, the view makes me want to come back again and again.

For what they charge, the basic services were badly lacking, and we left thoroughly disappointed after visiting yesterday. There was no electricity all night, and problems continued in the morning: lighting was poor, water came inconsistently, and there was no hot water. The kettle didn’t work either because there was no power. Shivraj on staff was polite and tried to help, but the owner, Sabu Mehra, was extremely rude, dismissive, and uncooperative when we raised our concerns. That made everything worse. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless management and the basic facilities improve significantly.
