Hotel Puran Palace

The room looked clean, but I couldn't sleep through Saturday night because the walls let every sound through. I could hear people at reception, kitchen utensils clinking, and toilets flushing in nearby rooms. The rooms and food were overpriced, and even a water bottle cost Rs.100/-, when that should be one of the cheapest things. It was an expensive and unfortunate stay for me.

On this return stay, service was better than before and things were otherwise good. But I spotted bugs moving around on the bed and side table, which wasn't pleasant. Hope they get pest control done soon.

The rooms were tiny and smelled bad, and there wasn't anything nearby worth visiting. Even though the hotel is in the market, it's a long way from GT Road. Music from the pub inside kept disturbing us until 1 am. The food was tasteless and so expensive we couldn't get full, yet the bill for two came to Rs 1000. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in, total waste of money.

The open air loung bar and its setting were my favorite. The guys made our night out really fun, and Mr. ram gave us great service. There were three of us. We ordered a beer tower and LIIT, plus a veg tandoori platter and peanut masala. The tower seemed a little pricey compared with Delhi and NCR, but the LIIT was good all around, even if a bit sweet. With so many alcohols mixed in, some sweetener is needed. The tandoori platter was huge, and I loved the tandoori gobi and kabab. The peanuts were very wet and soggy, though, and could be better. Great experience, 4/5. Hope they have Absentee for us next time. Tequila and sambuca aren't that much alcoholi. Thanks Puran place team, Mr. RAM and the amazing shy bartender. We'll come back soon.
