Hotel Sapphire

We stayed for 3 nights, just a few steps from Golden temple (Darbar Sahib). The rooms were clean, and staff were polite and helpful. Service was prompt when we needed the bedsheets changed or the room cleaned.

I asked about early check-in 10 days beforehand and was told it would depend on availability, which I accepted. When I arrived around 8:30-9AM, one receptionist treated me rudely and said I should come at check-in time. He then demanded 1500 rs, asking if I could pay cash, which was a red flag. He claimed special cleaning staff had to be called, but that was a lie. I can accept other things, but this was upsetting. The owners are across from a holy temple and seem to be making extra money from pilgrims, as if faith is an opportunity to burden them. If you want to avoid rude treatment, expensive food, and an unwelcoming experience, find somewhere else. The owner should consider whether taking this extra money from pilgrims will bring help or harm.

I've stayed at the Sapphire Hotel on each of my visits to Amritsar over the past few years, and I look forward to returning. It's right on the doorstep of Sri Darbar Sahib, with convenient parking and shops nearby. The service is great, and the staff go out of their way to help. The rooms are clean and work well for families.

The rooms are smaller, but decent and good, and the washrooms are quite small too. The tea stalls nearby are always open, and you can easily walk to Darbar Sahib. Sadly, the terrace was locked and not open, even though I booked for its view, so don't book for that. It feels a little overpriced for the room. They should open the terrace to everyone, which would make it more worthwhile. Everything else was decent. Enjoy and get blessed.
