Osahan Paradise

The owner and staff at Osahan Paradise Homestay were very helpful and focused on guests. They suggested places to eat and shop, helped me buy bus tickets to another city and sort out local SIM card registration and activation, and arranged a trip to the India-Pakistan border closing ceremony. The guesthouse is modest but comfortably placed right amid everything. The Golden Temple, restaurants, family food shops, clothes and turban shops, and a pharmacy were all 2-5 minutes away on foot. Local museums and an AirTel mobile operator were 15-20 minutes away, and transport was easy to find. My room had a park view, a big comfortable bed and a warm blanket. There was a TV, fan and air conditioner, though I didn't use them. The bathroom had hot and cold water, and they provided a clean towel, soap, electric kettle and complimentary tea. Free Wi-Fi worked very well throughout the guesthouse. Local Hindi songs played loudly on repeat from morning until 6-7 pm, but that didn't bother me. I had a very comfortable stay and can recommend the place to international travelers.

The room was spotless and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It’s easy to walk to the Golden Temple and plenty of restaurants from here. Amazing value for the price.

The owner and his family were kind, decent people, and the room felt good for what it cost. I slept less well because dogs in the neighborhood were noisy at night. Aside from that small issue, I had an excellent stay, and the location is very good.

Rajdeep, the owner, really goes out of his way to look after you, and Anil is lovely too. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast was delicious: a traditional Punjabi dish, which I recommend, or toast with scrambled eggs, or plain toast, plus masala chai or black tea. They also sell large bottles of water for 20 rupees. It’s easy to walk to the Golden Temple and around the old city. If you want a quieter room, ask for one at the back facing Jallianwala Bagh. The alleyway carries the horns and tuk tuks, so bring ear plugs. Getting there by car can be tricky. You may have to encourage your driver to take the alley, or get a tuk tuk from the Golden Temple’s main parking area. Walking from there takes about 10 minutes. Good value for the location and service.
