OYO 1673 Hotel MM Yellowuds

We were on the last part of our India pilgrimage and stayed one night because the hotel is close to the Golden Temple. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff were helpful and courteous to us as foreign tourists. Thank you for the kind hospitality.

We arrived at 11 am as a group of four, and the hotel charged us 500 extra bucks. Service wasn't up to the mark, and the room wasn't clean. Breakfast was supposed to be complementary, but it was limited, not a buffet. We got only one pranatha each, and when we asked for more, management said there'd be an extra charge. The rating on Oyo is fake. Think before booking.

The staff were incredibly unfriendly. Our food bill was 1000rs more than what we'd spent, even though we'd tracked our orders and prices. When we questioned it, they stopped speaking English and acted dumb. We paid because we were desperate to leave the horrible hotel and the deeply unpleasant people running it. They also charged an inflated rate for a wagah border trip. We arranged a rickshaw to the train station at reception and were told 100rs, but the driver asked for 200, so we spent 10 minutes arguing with him and the staff to get the quoted price. We ordered food without meat or dairy because my girlfriend eats neither, but it arrived with cheese and yoghurt. The room was old and worn, and the photos were misleading. Mold covered the ceilings in both the room and bathroom. They called our room phone at 8am every morning to wake us for breakfast orders. The room was supposed to have a fridge and kettle, but neither was there. We asked for cleaning while we were out. Four hours later it hadn't been cleaned, and the door was wide open. We waited outside, then two minutes later they called us in saying it was clean. It seemed they'd only changed the towels. We asked them to change the sheets, and they said they already had, but they were lying. The sheets made us sweat at night. There's no shower curtain or bath mat, so the floor stays wet. They gave us a filthy plastic mesh mat that made the floor and our feet dirty. I cleaned it, but it was still useless. One day we were in the room around midday when the cleaner opened the door, looked in, and shut it again. I have no idea why, but it seemed strange. The hotel is off the main road in a bad area, with no restaurants nearby, and overlooks a huge bypass. Traffic was very noisy. Our window wouldn't close properly, so we could hear everything at night while trying to sleep.

The linen wasn't clean, and they even gave us a quilt without a cover. Staff attitude was terrible and very casual. They claimed to have parking, but there was no parking space, so our car was left open by the roadside. They also said there was a restaurant, but instead arranged food from outside. They charged an extra 10% service fee and 30 rs for a one-litre Kinley bottle with a 20 rupee MRP. They control the AC centrally and switch it off as they like. Most bogus hotel. Think twice before booking.
