VJR Mahal and Vinayagam Residency

There’s a cafeteria on the ground floor, and the main hall is upstairs on the first floor. A lift is available, and even with the AC, the wall mounted fans were useful. The venue sits right on the main road, but car parking inside is limited. Other cars can park outside. Getting a vehicle out right away may be difficult because the two wheeler parking is directly opposite the car parking. The security help wasn’t very reassuring, and the security staff seemed old.

The guest rooms were the worst part of our visit. The restrooms were clean, and there was both hot and regular water, but pests and cockroaches were in the room and even on the bed. It was very hard to sleep. Proper pest control is needed. I was there for a friend’s wedding, and the hall itself was clean, spacious, and well maintained. The dining area was neat and organized too. Parking was managed well, and the security staff were very helpful. A covered parking shed would be a good addition so vehicles don’t get wet in the rain. With cleaner, better maintained rooms and pest control, guests could have a much more comfortable stay.

It’s right on the highway, and there’s no dining nearby, which is a downside. The hotel was otherwise well maintained, the staff were good, and I had a good stay. Hot water wasn’t available. They hadn’t listed it as an amenity, so that’s okay, but for the price it should have been provided since it’s essential.

The Mahal, rooms, and staff were very friendly, but the decoration team was unprofessional, overcharged, and acted unethically, damaging the venue’s reputation. Outside decorators aren’t allowed, and the price set by the in-house team is final. That made for an unpleasant and costly experience. Keep this in mind before booking.
