Vatsalya Bhawan Ayodhya

At the end of September 2025, I stayed at Vatsalya Bhawan in Kanigunj, Ayodhya. The owner, who is a doctor, and the caretaker were kind and cooperative, and food can be arranged on request. Room prices were Rs.1000 to Rs.2500, with some room to negotiate, so it may suit people looking for budget lodging. The location is convenient: Ayodhya Dham Railway Station is nearby and walkable, the main Ram Temple is under 2 km away, and Ayodhya Cantt Railway Station (Faizabad) is about 7.5 km away. From the rooftop, both the Ram Temple dome and Hanuman Garhi are clearly visible. The room pictures on Google and other websites look more appealing than the rooms in person. It’s a standalone three-story building on a small plot, around 12 by 50 feet, with walls all around and no open space, so ventilation is an issue. Inside, the air conditioning, TV with Wi-Fi, geyser, and shower were all working properly.

We had a comfortable stay in a spacious, clean room, and the location worked well for sightseeing. The staff were so friendly and made us feel at home.

The washroom was dirty and unhygienic, and basic hospitality and respect for guests were missing. Towels seemed to have been used before and sprayed with fragrance to cover the smell. There were no slippers, and even the deluxe suite had no kettle or drinking glasses. The facilities weren't worth the price. The owner at Vatsalya Bhawan, Ayodhya, was initially polite, but became rude, cunning, and unprofessional after payment. The whole stay was disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ayodhya.

The rooms were decent, but the booking and service experience was my worst of many hotel stays across different cities. I had booked through Agoda and paid the full amount online. On arrival, the owner first said there was no booking. Once Agoda confirmed it, he said their rooms don't cost below ₹2500, questioned how I'd booked for ₹1200, and told me Agoda had “scammed” me. Rather than sort it out professionally, the hotel put us up somewhere else. That wasn't what we'd booked or expected, but we were already on a trip and had no choice but to accept the alternative. The way the situation was handled, and the treatment of customers, felt very unprofessional.
