Nahar's Heritage

The experience at Nahar Nilgiri Hotel, Ooty was awful, and the place doesn’t deserve even one star in my view. The bathroom had dirty fittings and a bad smell, and the tap water in the morning was foul-smelling and unclean. We found cockroaches in the room, where the old furniture was poorly maintained. There wasn’t even a bottle of mineral water or an electric kettle. There was no fan, AC, or room heater, so it felt suffocating with the windows closed. Opening them meant looking out at a naala with sewage water and a nearby slum, nothing like the online photos. Staff were unhelpful with requests. Parking got so congested at night that moving the car was difficult. Restaurant food was overpriced and below average. Even the check-in fell short of basic expectations. The hotel is called three-star or four-star on go ibibo, but it wasn’t worth the money or that rating. I’d strongly recommend avoiding it.

The breakfast setup and quality were very poor. Room cleaning was poor too, since the hotel management didn’t even replace the towels.

The check-in went smoothly and the service was good. Rooms were neat and clean, and the hotel is in a prime spot with lots of attractions nearby.

The rooms had a rustic feel that worked well, and they were comfortable. The downside was loud music and vibrations from the nearby Rambha bar, which continued until 1 am. A water bottle with a 20 rs MRP cost 38 rs including taxes.
