Star of The Sea Resort

The restaurant is on site, but they don't bring food to the room, so even for tea or coffee you have to go downstairs. The TV had a slight issue too, though we weren't in the room much except to sleep. Otherwise it was all good: the rooms were well maintained, and the resort is near the market and about a 10-minute walk from benaulim beach.

We had a good time here. The spacious rooms have balconies, and the property has a poolside bar and restaurant. They served some very good North Indian and Chinese food. It's in South Goa, close to madgoan and colva beach, with the beach about a 10-minute walk away. You can rent a 2/4 wheeler right next to the hotel. The place gets crowded with Russians from December through March.

The dust gave me a headache and triggered my asthma. I'd left my inhaler on the bike, and when I went downstairs to get it, I found we'd been locked inside. The caretaker had locked us in and left. They opened the door the next morning, but nobody even called to check on us, and we had to rush to the hospital. No one answered the phone at 10 p.m. When I sent WhatsApp messages, they showed as read, then they turned off their internet, and an hour later their phone was off too. There was no decency or concern for someone's life. The room and property were disgusting and filthy. Cockroaches had been killed and left around the place. There were no toiletries, the TV didn't work, the linen was dirty, and the cushions were worse than my dog's old ones. Nothing was maintained. Never, ever book here. I just wanted a quiet, peaceful birthday on my own, and this was what happened on the day that mattered most to me.

We spotted the sign and walked into Blue Lagoon, the restaurant behind this place. It's a nice spot by the pool. The prawns were fresh and good, and the mango juice made from fresh fruit was amazing. Lasagne was good too. The sizzler was just okay, the sauce and cabbage weren't so good, and the penne was bad because the sauce was very tangy.
