OYO 16821 Hotel Senapati Palace

The rooms smell bad, and there are spit marks and seepage on the walls. The sheets and linen were awful too. The TV is just for show, and the receptionist keeps asking for more money than was agreed. Probably the worst hotel in Bhubaneswar, maybe even India. Be careful before booking, with or without family.

The room tour was given by someone who seemed drunk, and a lot of the staff were chewing kaini or gutta. Being around them was suffocating. The reception staff were rude, there was no Wi-Fi or hot water, and this was an awful hotel experience for me. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The location is near Kalpana square, with lots of food options nearby and a restaurant downstairs. We had a good stay, the place was hygienic, the staff were good, and we had no problems. One concern about the area: there are two bars nearby, and slum dwellers wander around drunk, so it feels like a place to be safety-conscious. I can't speak to how things are during the current pandemic, but I'd recommend it based on our stay.

We had cockroaches, broken furniture, and a cabinet with a missing door and dirty laundry inside. The bathroom latch was broken, so the door wouldn't close, and repeated reminders didn't get it fixed. Our room had no proper blanket either. When we asked, they gave us blanket covers for the AC. In the scorching summer, there was no cold water or cold beverage, and don't expect ice cubes from Senapati Palace. If you're thirsty there, you may as well start digging your own well.
