Being just outside bodhgaya made it easy to get away from the bustle, and the spot itself was quiet. The building is big, with a huge rooftop lounging area and a great view of the Mahabodhi temple. My room and bathroom were clean, and there were no bad smells in the bathroom. A good place to stay.
I ended up staying four nights, though I had only planned on two, and they happily agreed to my request. I really appreciated how they tried to work through any problem with me and do as much as they could to help. It felt like home. If you have time, hear the family's story and about the place you're staying; there's a lot of love and passion behind what they do.
The food was great and the price was unbeatable. We could walk into the center of Bodghaya since the village is so small, and the place is just outside the busy area. The people running the house were always welcoming and helpful, and the kids were lovely and so happy to meet us. It was one of the most welcoming places we stayed in India.
We were welcomed into the family home so generously, with open hearts. They invited us to eat at the family table and play with the children. Islam, the wonderful host, has helped many children whose lives are part of this home. It's an experience I'll remember.
It takes about ten minutes to walk to the center of Bodhgaya. Back at the house, the garden, the children's smiles, and the owners' warmth made us feel at home. The rooms were spacious, lovely, and clean, and the food was fresh and organic. Recommended!
