OYO 13201 Home Studio Calangute Beach

It was a quiet, pleasant stay, and the food was good enough. The hotel is close to the beach and Calangute market, and I liked everything else about it. The one annoying part was reception asking to see the final email I’d receive at the end of the stay and asking me to give OYO a 5 rating. Otherwise, I might have rated it 5.

Here’s my honest feedback from our stay. The housekeepers were good, and the hotel is within walking distance of the beach. There’s a very tasty veg thali for Rs.100 at the restaurant just outside on the main road, and bike rental is right outside too. The managers seemed to behave well only when the owner was around. Both managers were poor in how they spoke and acted. After checkout, the manager came over and took my phone, asking to check whether I’d received an email. Then he gave the hotel a 5-star rating himself, which may explain its 4.5+ rating in the OYO app. When I complained, they said, “galti se hua..aap google pe rating dijiye..” OYO’s helpline couldn’t help either. The rooms are old, with old blankets, no view from the window because other rooms are close by, and cockroaches and insects around. It suddenly rained and water came into our first-floor room, so we were moved to the ground floor. The swimming pool was always under maintenance. The manager was drinking in the middle of the compound, which was awful. Food wasn’t available at the time because the kitchen was supposedly under maintenance, and the food quality was average.

I had room 306, but I ended up changing hotels after calling goibo customer care, since I’d booked through them. They accepted my complaint and arranged another hotel. The main problems were dirty sheets and pillow covers, bathroom locks that didn’t close properly, and frequent power cuts. Every five minutes the lights, AC, and fan would go off, and there was no proper backup. The staff were well behaved, though, and that was the one good thing.

It’s within walking distance of Calangute Beach, which is handy. This is a budget place for a group of guys who just need somewhere to crash in Goa. Don’t count on the room service food too much. Booking through Oyo or another online platform may get you a better deal.
