Mi Casa By the Sea

The location was okay, near the beach, but we won't stay here again. Our first-floor room was dirty, including the towels, blanket, and fridge, and termite activity had left a small sand mound on the washroom floor. Housekeeping brought us a replacement towel, though that one still wasn't really clean. We called Agoda to cancel, and Agoda contacted the householder. We were told cancellation wasn't possible but that another room was available. That turned out to be a lie, there was no empty room.

The big mirror in our room was the only real plus. The beach was described as 60 m away, but getting to the nearest one meant walking at least 400 m or driving 800 m. For the same price, we should have booked a beach-facing hut with better amenities. We chose this place after seeing the online ratings and paid ₹2000, but the rooms smelled awful. The other room they showed us after we complained was no better. It seemed like the rooms hadn't been opened for months, let alone dusted. We opened the window and waited for the smell to clear, wasting time in Goa. The AC didn't work either, with both warm and cold air going outside the room. Breakfast was included, but in the morning they had none available and could only offer bread and jam. We won't book here again.

Mr. Sebastian made us feel completely at home, and his knowledge of Goa is fascinating. The homestay was lovely, and it never felt like we were somewhere new. Don't miss the secret-recipe omelette he makes himself for breakfast. It was absolutely divine, among the best we've ever had. We'll definitely return to this home away from home.

The rooms and bathrooms are huge, with modern facilities, and the place has a lovely Portuguese colonial feel. It's pocket-friendly, close to the beach, with a friendly, helpful owner and caretaker. There's safe, free parking and excellent WiFi, plus good, inexpensive food served in large portions. Honestly, nothing was bad about the place. ❤️ We'll definitely stay again.
