The Acacia Hotel & Spa Goa

Ask for a quiet room, since the hotel sits on a busy road. The rooms are spacious, clean and come with balconies, and the location is central and close to the beach. The covered pool is in the atrium. Staff are the real highlight, charming and keen to make guests feel welcome. The rooftop bar and restaurant have excellent food and service, with a 30% discount off menu prices for guests. Breakfast buffet and the main menu both have plenty to suit different tastes. A good upper mid-range place to stay.

We were there in the first week of December for two days. The reception staff were helpful, and after we asked, they moved us to a better room. Even then, the sheets were torn and seemed used, which isn’t what I’d expect from a four-star hotel. The first room was very old, with a broken corridor and spiders and webs. It needed a proper deep clean, so housekeeping gets zero stars from me. I’ve attached photos as proof. After speaking with staff, I learned the housekeeping workers are underpaid, and I feel that shows in the poor cleaning and service. The hotel calls itself four-star, but aside from the ambience, the rooms felt two-star quality. It needs renovation.

We’re nearly at the end of our two-week holiday at the Acacia. The indoor pool is there, but I wish the hotel had an outdoor pool or garden. Otherwise, we’re very happy with the hotel and its location. The rooms are great, with lovely showers and comfortable beds, and they were cleaned perfectly every day. Breakfast is great as well. Everyone, from the cleaning team to restaurant staff and reception, has been friendly and helpful.

The staff were lovely and helpful, the hotel is in a great spot, and we enjoyed the restaurant food. But the rooms really let it down. The bedding wasn’t very clean, parts of the shower were rusty, and there was mould on the light shades. The pool area also didn’t look like an enjoyable place to spend time, so we never used it. We’ve just come back from two weeks at the acacia, and I wouldn’t call it a four-star hotel. The rooms need better upkeep; I’d put it closer to two stars.
