The biggest concerns for me were safety and access. Most rooms, all but two, have no windows at all, including the bathrooms. The lift barely fits three people, and the hotel's only entrance is narrow. If you're willing to accept those risks, it can work for an overnight stop on a trip to Himachal. There are good shops and places to eat nearby, and the room is a good size for the price. The bathrooms are only moderately maintained, with regard to clean floors, water flow, and geyser use. Food was tasty and fresh, and room service was fairly prompt.

I was really pleased with the service and will definitely come back. The staff were polite, quick to respond, and seemed to care about doing a good job. From the first interaction through the final delivery, everything was handled thoughtfully and professionally, and it exceeded my expectations.

This place gave me a bad feeling, and I wouldn't stay here. There were cockroaches on the beds, and the catering staff were rude and didn't serve us properly. They call it a buffet, but when you ask for something, they tell you to order everything at once. Even the manager seemed grumpy.

I paid around ₹3000 per night, and in its current state I don't think this property is worth even ₹500. The hygiene was terrible, with cockroaches everywhere and visible fungus on the bathroom curtains. Maintenance was nearly nonexistent, and the lift was unreliable and barely worked properly during our stay. The photos on MakeMyTrip and other platforms looked AI generated or heavily misleading compared with the actual hotel. I'm very disappointed that sites like MakeMyTrip list places like this without proper verification or quality checks. Travelers should be careful before booking.

I had a wonderful two-night stay at Hotel Downtown sec 17. I'll remember the service, location, and overall experience, and would like to come back in the future. I'd highly recommend staying here for a better experience.
