Tamarind (KTDC)

There isn’t much in the rooms beyond the basics, so don’t expect anything fancy. The staff seemed indifferent to guests, which was disappointing.

We called in the evening needing a room that same day, and luckily one was available. The staff had switched on the AC for our arrival, so the room was already cool. The service was great, the interiors were nice, and for a budget stay it was a really good place. The AC room was 1500+ GST, with extra beds and covers available for an additional charge. It was hard to find at night because there weren’t proper signboards. The restroom looked old and could use repairs, though everything worked. The TV only had one channel, and its remote was unreliable, so there wasn’t much entertainment. I’d recommend it for bachelors or friends going out.

It’s on the main highway, with plenty of parking and friendly, cooperative staff. The prices are affordable. The rooms and furniture are old, but clean and well maintained. The AC was brand new and cooled the room in minutes. The toilet floor and bathroom fittings, on the other hand, were quite old. It was a nice, quiet stay by the backwaters.

A quiet spot for beer, with lovely Kuttanadan views, tasty food, and good service from staff who treated customers nicely. Prices are reasonable, and there’s good parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. There’s no AC, and they mostly won’t take cards, so bring cash.
