Awesome Dormitory

A simple, inexpensive stay close to the airport. The sheets were clean, the AC worked well, and having a locker under the bed made it feel secure. Plenty of good places to eat nearby, too. I arrived without a booking and before check-in, and paid R500. Three stars because the place is quite basic.

I stayed for more than a week and found the rates affordable. The rooms and bathrooms were neat, the AC and WiFi worked well, and there are lockers. Staff were cooperative, too. It's handy for the airport, Metro, and local trains. One warning: be very clear with the hotel staff about your laundry, or you might not get it back.

The owner, who is from Kerala, was kind, attentive, and easy to talk to. His staff were friendly and helpful as well, though their spoken English varied. The place is basically beds and three bathrooms, so bring your own toilet paper and soap. Each bunk has a fan, lock box, outlets, shelf, and light, and there's good AC and WiFi. Breakfast is two small jam and toast sandwiches with chai, enough to tide you over until you can get into the city and enjoy Mumbai's street food. Pretty good value for budget backpackers. During monsoon season, most of the other guests were Indian.

The AC worked fine, the service was good, and they made the bed each morning. The caretaker even got up at 4 AM to open the gate for me when I had to go for a walk. Sakinaka Metro station is just 200 Mt away. A comfortable, cozy place to stay, and there's a Chinese corner nearby worth trying.
