Hotel Maurya International

I went to the restaurant upstairs for breakfast, but the mobile signal was weak. After eating, I came downstairs to charge my phone in the empty lobby. A front desk staff member, a manager in a tie, came over and told me my time was up and I had to leave, even though nobody was waiting to use the lobby. The front desk attitude was horrible. The owner should take this seriously. There are plenty of good hotels in Chennai, so I suggest avoiding this one.

Food had no taste, and when I complained, they didn't seem willing to listen, as if tourists only come once. I also needed a reliable cab to go nearby in the evening, but they couldn't give me a single driver's contact number. Hot water for showers was available only from 6am to 10am and 6pm to 10pm. They didn't provide basic things like coffee or tea bags either. When I asked, they said those amenities hadn't returned since covid. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for treatment at Kauvery Hospital at Vadapalani, just 500 meter away. Room no. 609 was spacious and clean, and the in-house resturant served good quality food. Check-in and checkout were handled professionally. We were satisfied with everything.

The staff in the bar are good, but there's no enclosed smoking area, so cigarette smoke spreads throughout the place. In the AC bar, it's hard to breathe and keep your eyes open. I think regular bar-goers could suffer from lung and throat cancer because of this. The pollution control board should look into it and protect people.
