We spent a week there with our two small kids and only wished we could stay longer. Our house had two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a dressing area, plus an amazing balcony leading to a sandy spot with hammocks. We loved how peaceful the place was, and would walk an hour along the sand to Marari for the sunset, then return to our quiet haven. Most days we were happy just being there. We ate with the family every day because the food was so delicious, and their welcome made us feel like part of the family. They took such good care of our children and helped us in every way, from lifts and local advice to ordering things online. We could walk right out to the beach in front, and they also arranged a traditional martial artist to teach us and the kids, as well as cooking lessons. A thousand times, I recommend this beautiful place.

The family who run this homestay are the special part, so warm and welcoming. The food was amazing too, from the fish dinner to breakfast with appam, freshly squeezed coconut milk, and bananas. It’s a little away from the crowds at Marari Beach, with rooms set in a fantastic, tidy garden and direct access to the beach. An awesome place to stay.

A traditional homestay near Marari Beach, with reasonable rates and friendly dealings. It’s a good fit for a romantic stay or a reunion with friends, and is about 4 km from National Highway 66.

If you want your own space and a homely setting with great South Indian food served in that same home-style atmosphere, Arakal heritage brings it all together. I stayed three days and hated saying goodbye. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves nature and wants to feel close to the good old days.

We had such a lovely time at Arakal Heritage. Chethi beach is only a few steps away, and there’s plenty of room for kids to play. The food was stunning, and our hosts were so caring. It felt like staying in a peaceful home, with traditional, spacious rooms that had everything we needed. The ambience was mesmerizing.
