Plumeria Lake Resort & Spa

There’s a lot to enjoy here, from the huge swimming pool and activity area to the well-kept pool table beside it. Our room was spacious, with a wonderful balcony overlooking the lake, especially pretty in the morning and evening. The food was fresh, and the cook was happy to adjust dishes or make options beyond the menu. Dinner and breakfast were both great. The lobby has a Kerala cultural feel, and the staff were always helpful. It costs less than other top resorts and, even though it’s a bit outside central Alleppey, I’d choose it over a houseboat at a similar price, where there are hardly any amenities. I’d happily come back.

We had a great stay at a resort that felt reasonably priced. The staff were genuinely kind and looked after us well, and the chef served delicious, authentic Kerala food. There are lovely views around the property, and the sunset over the backwaters was gorgeous. I’d definitely recommend it.

The place was closed when we arrived, despite still being listed and taking bookings online through Hotels.com and booking.com. We’d reserved two nights for December 24 and traveled from abroad with elderly family members and teenagers. After about four hours on the road, we were told the lease had expired and wasn’t renewed. It was incredibly frustrating, especially since we were told it had been shut for over four or five months. In peak season, we then struggled to find another good place to stay. Don’t book here, the listings seem to be taking people’s money even though it’s closed.

I came for a wedding, and the resort’s natural surroundings made it a lovely setting. It was also my first trip to India, and I had a great time here. The staff were welcoming and did their best to accommodate our needs. There are several rooms near Kerala’s backwaters, and they made sure we always had plenty to eat. The food was delicious.
