Hotel Sri Lakshmi

The place has an old-style layout with modern facilities, and the rooms are clean and spacious. It's centrally located near railway stations and bus stands. Decent stay for the money.

I checked out on my second day, even though I'd planned to stay for three weeks. The hotel has lost the charm it had when I stayed in 1993-94, and today's condition is a black mark on the Sri Lakshmi hotel brand. I won't stay here again. The toilets were filthy, with a black commode, and the cleaning staff told me they don't use acid or Harpic. They just flush once and leave. The basin and shower drains were coated with calcium, as were the walls and pipe fittings, which made it look like the place had never been professionally cleaned. The shower was broken, and even after I followed up twice, they didn't care to replace it. Reception staff were arrogant and acted as if they were giving rooms away for free. They wouldn't listen to complaints, saying the person responsible was on leave and it would be fixed in two days. The toilets were worse than public toilets.

The location and the restaurant in the building were the only good points for me. The rooms weren't properly clean, room service was poor, there were no bathing kits or packed drinking water, and the dhobi service wasn't on time. They charge about the same as better hotels nearby, so I strongly recommend choosing somewhere else to stay.

Right in the city center, so it draws plenty of customers. The service was warm and humble, and although the rooms are old and rustic, they were clean and well kept. Amenities feel outdated, though, and booking directly costs more, ₹3500 for triple sharing. Better to use a third-party app.
