Dinner was a letdown too. When we asked for chicken, they said it wasn't available because it was Thursday, and would only be available the next day. They hadn't told us in advance or offered alternatives. In the morning, housekeeping cleaned the room and my slippers disappeared. Staff said they saw two pairs, assumed one belonged to the hotel, and gave my personal slippers to another guest. That was completely unacceptable. At checkout, they tried to charge us ₹1500 for food, even though we'd only ordered two teas and one chicken fry on the second day. The bill also had veg fried rice, dal, and rotis we never ordered, adding another ₹750. My wife checked it carefully and caught the mistake. They apologized and removed the charges, but it left a bad impression. I can't say whether it was carelessness or an attempt to overcharge. The TV didn't work because it had no recharge. First they said they couldn't find the remote, even though I was holding it, then promised a recharge in 5 minutes. After an hour, they said the owner was at a party and wasn't responding. When we finally spoke, he said it couldn't be done because it was Thursday and would happen the next day, yet we were charged the full room rate. There was an electric kettle but no tea or coffee sachets. They said they don't provide those and suggested ordering online. There was no intercom or contact number in the room, and the number on the food menu couldn't be reached. Every small request meant going down to reception. The reception staff said they had network problems and no connectivity themselves, then gave us an attendant's number. I also called the number listed on Google, but the woman who answered said she was at another hotel and would forward the inquiry. The management was completely disorganized. Finding Hotel Golden Dolma was difficult. The roads there are confusing, and the hotel sits up a small ramp off a one-way road. If you miss the narrow turn by even 20 meters, the one-way system means another 15-20 minutes looping around. There's barely any sign on the main road, just a poster hidden behind other ads. Once we arrived, staff said none of the rooms had views, so we should take any. We got two rooms opposite each other. They looked okay at first, with decent beds and sofas, but the bed was uncomfortable to sleep on. The sofa was so low and worn that sitting on the floor felt about the same. This was one of the most frustrating hotel stays I've had, with poor management, careless service, and one operational problem after another.
