Hotel Delhi 55 @ New Delhi Railway Station

The room smelled bad, the tap didn’t work, and the AC wasn’t working properly. There was no proper arrangement in the room. The owner was rude and fought over pennies, asking for extra money for late checkout without telling us beforehand. He took full payment in cash up front and wouldn’t return the balance. He also threatened to fight, saying, “Akela hi sava lakh k barabar hoon ap log kuch nhi ho mere aage” and that he alone was enough for all six of us. Please don’t visit this hotel.

I’d stayed here twice before and had good service, breakfast, cooperation, and helpful receptionists and room boys. This time none of those facilities were there. It was a very bad experience, and I lost my money and three precious days.

The food and drinks were poor quality, and nobody in the kitchen answered my calls. I’d already rejected the items and called reception to cancel the order, but they still charged me after I explained that I didn’t want those low-grade drinks. I paid, though I expected them to understand since I’d been clear. Later, a staff member told me the food and drinks came from roadside vendors. The new staff handled the whole thing very unprofessionally. The hotel’s services seem to be getting worse day by day. I’d tell others to think twice before choosing Hotel City Empire.

We had a confirmed booking and paid in advance almost a month before arriving at City Empire, near New Delhi Railway Station in Paharganj. After traveling overnight by train with family, we reached early in the morning and were told the room wouldn’t be available until 12 PM, which hadn’t been clearly communicated beforehand. We accepted that and went out to take care of our work. When we returned in the evening, staff suddenly said there was no room available. We believed they had sold our confirmed room to someone else for a higher price. The staff were rude and uncooperative when we asked for the room or a proper solution. We had to call the police, and only after police intervention did we receive our advance back. At 11 PM we were forced to search for another hotel with our family, causing major stress, harassment, and inconvenience. The incident was serious enough to be recorded in the police diary at the time, so calling this review false is incorrect. This is my genuine personal experience, shared so other travelers can be aware. The booking was dishonest and irresponsible, and the hotel showed no professionalism, commitment, or respect for customers. They can’t be trusted and may leave you stranded at night. Don’t book here.
