Hotel Geeson

Parking is a bit difficult in the busy market, but Hotel Geeson is handy for short stays if you want a budget-friendly place near New Delhi Railway Station. It’s a short walk from the station and close to Connaught Place. The lobby is decent and welcoming, staff are generally polite and helpful, and check-in is fairly smooth, though it can take a while at peak hours. Rooms are compact but have basic amenities including AC, TV, Wi-Fi, and comfortable bedding. They’re okay for what they are, though they need restoration and maintenance. Cleanliness is satisfactory, but the bathrooms could be cleaner. The in-house restaurant serves Indian and continental food, and room service is prompt. Prices are reasonable compared with other hotels nearby. They also provide travel help and local guidance, which is useful for first-time visitors. CCTV and staff presence give a decent sense of security in the crowded market. It’s a budget-to-mid range option that offers good value if affordability and being near the railway station are your main priorities. Not luxurious, but practical for a short Delhi stay.

I used to live in Delhi for 11 years and had only left three years before this stay. The pillows smelled of other people’s sweat, and it took them four hours to replace them. The TV never worked, including at checkout, because it hadn’t been recharged. They charged about 1,800 for the room and another 800 for one meal for two. At that price, it doesn’t deserve to be running, honestly.

I paid the full amount in advance after negotiating the rate, but at checkout they asked for more, saying it was GST. Why take the booking payment up front and then bring up GST only when the guest is leaving? Don’t book here.

The location in the middle of Paharganj was the one thing going for Geeson hotel. We ended up there by chance after the hotel we’d reserved told us they were overbooked, even though we already had a booking. The place was old and very dirty, and the price felt far too high for what it offered compared with nearby hotels. Staff barely spoke English, and the receptionist was rude and unfriendly. There was no hot water, and the food was spicy even though we specifically asked for non-spicy dishes. When I raised these problems, the receptionist got ruder. It felt like a horror hotel, with unprepared, unprofessional staff. I wouldn’t recommend it.
