Hotel Hari Piorko

We had lunch at the hotel's restaurant and liked the good-quality food at reasonable prices. Massage and Ayurvedic therapy are also offered. During our stay with family, we felt safe overall, and the staff were polite, cooperative, and helpful. The rooms were clean, as were the bathrooms. For getting around, autos are easy to find just outside Platform No. 1 (NDLS). The hotel is about 450-500 meters from the Platform No. 1 side (Paharganj Gate) of New Delhi Railway Station, so it's an easy walk without heavy luggage. A good, convenient option near NDLS for families, foreigners travelling to NDLS, and other travelers.

The busiest area I've ever seen runs from 9am till midnight, with constant honking and lots of dust because it's near the railway station. Surprisingly, the rooms were quiet. We stayed three nights. The staff helped with our requests, and check-in was smooth after our early-morning arrival in Delhi and long flight. The budget-level ambience was acceptable, and the AC and hot water worked well throughout. The rooms were small, though, and our luggage made them feel cramped. We were initially given one towel, but they promptly brought two more when we asked. The restaurant was average. I wouldn't choose to eat there again, though it was manageable for convenience. A reasonable short-stay choice if basic comfort and supportive staff are what you need.

We stayed in a Compact deluxe room tucked inside the building, away from the busy market, and the room had a ventilation window. Its centralized AC could make it quite cold, which was a plus in Delhi's heat. The wooden furniture, bedsheet, and towels were spotless, and the attached bathroom was surprisingly spacious and well ventilated. Some popular channels were available on the television. The hotel sits on the main bazaar street, so getting an auto or tuk-tuk is easy. Ramakrishna Ashram Marg metro station is within walking distance. The property is well maintained, has three floors and an elevator, and an attached restaurant serving delicious food at reasonable rates. Reception staff were polite and helpful, and everything from check-in through check-out went smoothly. A comfortable, pleasant stay.

We ended up with a better, upgraded room at the last minute, and it was great, with all the amenities and service. My friend and I had been stuck at night because the room supposedly confirmed through ease my trip site wasn't actually available at the hotel. The manager stepped in, spoke to the website's agent, and got a refund on our behalf, then helped us secure that upgrade. The manager deserves special thanks, and the staff were great too. It's within walking distance of New Delhi station. I'd recommend a visit for a night or two.
