Ikhaya Hotel The Highline

The self-serve breakfast was acceptable, but the hotel felt dated throughout. My travel agent booked two nights, Nov 9-11, and I arrived after midnight. There was no hot water during my stay, no matter how long I ran the tap. Mosquitoes came in through the washroom exhaust fan, and I found roaches on the bathroom floor. The fixtures were crooked, the washroom door lock was damaged and took a hard push to open, and the headboard was damaged, held together with masking tape.

The room was tiny, the bathroom humid and smelly, and it hadn’t been cleaned properly. The entire shower door was missing, and there was never any hot water. When I asked, the receptionist said the main unit had been broken for a week and still hadn’t been fixed. They also charge 38 ₹ extra for a bottle of water. From the entrance to the room, nothing seemed managed. The guard just watched as you carried your suitcase up the stairs, while the receptionist was slow, rude, arrogant, and unhelpful. Don’t waste your money here, stay somewhere else.

The staff were courteous and went out of their way to make the stay memorable. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished. Their decor reminded me of Eros hotel (Located in Nehru Place), with dark wood, olive green, and gold that gave the rooms an elegant feel. Check out the discounts they offer on the meal menu. I had a very pleasant stay.

The front desk staff need proper training in how to treat guests. We arrived at midnight after a long drive from Himachal with our family, and had booked two rooms under family members’ names. We showed IDs for the people named on the bookings, then the front desk executive rudely and dismissively demanded IDs from everyone, including the 8-year-old who had travelled with us all that way. It felt as though we were being treated like antisocial people. One room’s washroom was very dirty, and the hotel didn’t seem to know how many people were arriving. The food wasn’t great either. The location is very secluded, with nothing nearby.
