Minimalist Poshtel & Suites

I booked online and arrived in January 2026 to find a cockroach-infested room that looked nothing like the photos. I suspect the pictures on the website have never matched the run-down, grotty place called "Minimalist Poshtel & Suites". The bathroom extractor fan nearly fell on me while I was washing, leaving an exposed electrical wire beside the running shower. Cockroaches also ran over my fingers while I used my laptop at the desk. Maybe the property resembled the photos a little when it first opened, but after that experience, I’m more inclined to think the photos are photoshopped and the place is a way to scam unsuspecting tourists with its strict no-refunds policy. I left after two days of a planned seven-day stay and found another hostel nearby. There are much better options at the same price, and nicer places for even half as much. Save yourself the time, stress, and money and skip it.

I booked a nearby four-star place for the same rate and skipped this one. The photos are highly misleading: the actual stay is shabby, old, and poorly maintained, and the rooms are only okay, nothing like the pictures. Unless you get a very low rate, it isn't worth it. Staff seem to cater more to foreign tourists and ignore local guests.

The room didn't look anything like the website, and I checked out straight away after a disgusting, unhygienic stay. I arrived around 1 AM and spotted a couple of flies, but I was too tired to make an issue of it. The bathroom was poorly maintained, with seepage on the walls and a broken shower. In the morning, I opened the curtains expecting a “sunrise view” and found at least 12-15 live flies behind them. I told reception when I checked out. They said staff could have sprayed the room if I'd reported it earlier. Shouldn't rooms be checked before guests are assigned to them? Don't book here. It wasn't worth it, and it was the worst experience of my lifetime.

The staff were really good, and they even helped carry my luggage to the neighborhood entrance, which I appreciated. The location is quiet and close to the main road, though traffic sometimes means taxis and tuktuks can't get into the area. I stayed in the capsules, which were clean and well maintained. It was usually quiet, but I could hear people talking through the capsule wall every night, so earplugs are a good idea. Breakfast was nice, with a pleasant dining area. Good service and a reasonable price.
