OYO 24437 Oxford Palace

After being refused at another OYO hotel I'd booked through booking.com, I came here just to shower and change before my bus, so I only needed a room for an hour. They charged me 800 rs for a non-AC room. The water came out brown, there was no hot water, and it wasn't even a proper shower. The bath towel they gave me was damp and smelly. They also made me walk up three floors with my 20kg luggage, then asked me to come back down with my passport. What an ordeal. I really don't recommend OYO hotels at all.

It's fine for a short stay near New Delhi Railway station, and the food was okay too. My experience was just okay overall, though management should pay more attention to cleaning the bedsheets and covers.

Management seemed friendly until I'd paid the rent and checked into the room. Then I found it stuffy, on the 4th floor with no elevator, and only two of the four CFLs were working. They charged eight times the local market rate for tea and food. If you're a couple, they treat your wife like a prostitute and ask her for commission. If you're alone, they say you must use prostitute service after check-in or you'll be involved in a police case. At checkout they demanded unusual charges for things like a broken chair or ripped bedsheet, and threatened unimaginable consequences if I didn't pay.

This hotel was so pathetic it felt like a roadside place. The room was small, hot water in the bathroom wasn't enough for a bath, there was no lift, and the AC barely worked. Even then, the hotel staff turned it off at night to save on the bill. I'd never seen that before and was shocked and disappointed. The next day, being lazy and tolerant, I accepted the discomfort and booked a second day through OYO. Then the manager called to say the booking wasn't valid because they weren't taking OYO bookings that day. He said he'd charge more if I wanted to stay. I tried to reason with him, but he humiliated me in front of everyone, asking why I wanted a hotel if I couldn't afford it. I called OYO, and they told me to book somewhere else. After all that humiliation, the manager kicked me out. Anyone reading this should know that even with a booking, you may be humiliated and turned away.
