OYO 71555 Hotel Payal

Getting to the rooms at Payal hotel means climbing many steep steps, which isn’t good for older people. There’s no room service or bell, so you have to make your way back to reception to get anyone’s attention. There’s no cold drinking water, the bathroom has no hooks, and the wash basin is tiny. The buckets and mugs were filthy, and the taps were faulty. The rooms are dingy, and the bathrooms are so cramped you can barely move. For Rs 900, that’s what you get. They charge Rs 800 for non AC and Rs 1000 for AC, though you may be able to negotiate. They quote a lot for these tiny, gloomy rooms, so many remain unsold and clients leave after seeing them. Vivek hotel next door has larger, nicely furnished rooms for Rs 700, and Namaskar hotel has cheaper rooms for Rs 500. Better to try one of those. The AC is off most of the time, even when you’ve paid for an AC room. They say power cuts keep it off for 3-4 hours in the morning, and then there’s a rule to switch it off from 6-9 pm. They don’t tell you about this at check-in, so you end up staying without AC.

I booked a non AC room at "Payal Hotel" through MakeMyTrip for a short trip to Delhi. The fan alone kept it mildly cool, which was a nice surprise. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, mattress, and freshly washed linen. Staff were sweet and polite, and refilled the bottles as soon as I arrived. Check-in at reception was quick, the corridor was remarkably clean, and the bright, clean washroom had toiletries, towels, and a mirror. They paid good attention to sanitation and safety and were always attentive to what I needed. Everything about the hotel was good.

The staff made this stay for us. They were so kind that we ended up feeling attached to the place, and we had a fantastic time. The location is good and the rooms are decent too. If you're after an affordable hotel, this one is well worth considering.

The rooms weren't clean, and the toilets were in very poor condition. We were charged 2800 for two rooms but weren't given a proper bill. The receptionist was unpleasant, and I felt customers were being cheated and overcharged. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
