Wood Castle Hotel

The rooms are on the small side, but more than adequate if you’re just there to sleep. The hotel is tucked away from noisy streets, so it’s quiet, and it’s clean with excellent quality linens. Breakfast was delicious, and they made it earlier than usual when we asked. We’re especially grateful for that, and Mr. Javed was very responsive to every request. The staff are friendly. Wishing the hotel luck, and hoping it keeps up this level of service.

The location was handy, near the metro and a market-style shopping street, and easy to reach by Uber. The staff were responsive and helpful when we needed assistance. Still, I barely slept because most of the constant banging and other noise came from inside the hotel, not outside. Staff seemed to be staying among the guests and often used a landline, which rang throughout the day. Someone was up very early by the store cupboard beside our room, the kitchen above us was noisy early and late, and building work was happening during our stay. I wouldn’t recommend it if you need rest. The room felt damp, and our clothes did too. The bedding wasn’t clean, and neither were the towels we requested. The shower wasn’t great: hot water ran out quickly, it took a while to work out how to use it, and the wet-room bathroom meant everything got soaked. Breakfast was complimentary, but only offered once, and seemed mainly to be a chance to sell tours, trips, and taxis. The staff appeared annoyed when we said we’d already arranged everything.

At reception the service was awful, and they wouldn’t cooperate when we explained that we didn’t have an aadhar card but would get it to them before checkout. I’ve been a regular customer, but they still wouldn’t listen. I’d booked a super deluxe room because they said it was bigger and had windows, but it was actually smaller than the normal deluxe room, and the windows were covered in dust. A bad hotel overall. I’d give it zero stars if that were an option.

The manager was very sweet and upgraded my room, and check-in and checkout were both super smooth. They provide toiletries, too. The hotel is only about two minutes from the main road, but set away from the chaos, so it’s a great spot if you like a peaceful environment. I had a wonderful stay for the price.
