Oyo 1870 Hotel Rt Hill View

The market is just a two-minute walk from RT HILL VIEW, and the lake is about 500 mtrs away. We had a good time on our two-night visit. Our room was decent and clean, and the staff were courteous. We mostly dealt with Mr. R Vijay and Mr Walter, who were polite and arranged what we needed. Mr. Walter also pointed us to a spice shop; after comparing, we found it cheaper than other shops, and bought a few things there.

The resort is very close to the lake, though there aren’t any great views from it. The rooms are kept neat and clean, and there’s a kettle for hot water. The Havells restroom heater worked well for bath water, and parking space is good. When the power goes out, though, it takes a while for the generator supply to kick in.

It’s an easy place to reach in a central spot, but the compound stays quiet, with no traffic or noise bothering us. The peaceful setting and family-friendly feel made for a relaxed stay. We had a spacious suite, and the first-floor balcony rooms have nice views. Restaurants, shops, and the lake are all within walking distance. Entry and exit were convenient even in peak season, and the individual geysers heated water quickly, which matters in Kodaikanal’s climate. A few things need attention: there’s no children’s play area or indoor games, and no restaurant in the hotel. Room service was slow. The towels were old and not very clean, and the 20L drinking water dispenser in the corridor didn’t look clean either. It’s a decent central option with views for families, though better service and cleanliness would improve the stay.

The manager is really friendly, and the room was clean. There are lots of sparrows around the hotel, and breakfast is included and good. It’s suitable for families, with mostly non-veg restaurants nearby, plus boating and 7d shows for children. Gemini Ganesh house is very close too.
