The staff were courteous and helpful, and room service and the customer experience were excellent. Still, the food seemed average for a five-star property, and the premium rooms felt small, especially for families with kids. As someone who regularly stays with the Sterling group around India, I’d rank Sterling Kodai Lake a little below some of their other resorts. For the first time, I felt Kodaikanal had better hotel options.

The resort felt safe and very family-friendly, and we all enjoyed the weather. The spa session was fantastic, and the kids loved both the dedicated kids’ room and the activities. They also arranged trekking, a night jeep safari, and more activities for adults and children. Sterling Kodai Lake Resort is beautiful and close to Kodai Lake. When we weren’t happy with our room, the staff kindly showed us several other options without any fuss. Special thanks to the manager, Mr. Manoj, who was humble and supportive and even shared his number in case we needed help. We had a wonderful holiday and beautiful experience. This is our go-to resort in Kodaikanal now. We’ll definitely return, and I highly recommend it.

The activities made our stay at Sterling Kodai Lake extra special. Jumkar, Eswarao and Rohan from the Activities team put together a memorable experience, with live guitar singing, dance classes, and plenty of fun things to do. The reception gave us a warm welcome, our room was spotless, and the service was outstanding. It was a wonderfully relaxing getaway, and we’re grateful for the memories. We still haven’t received a satisfactory resolution to the spa issue or the team’s miscommunication, even after raising it with staff and the manager. Other hotel staff apologized and said they would address the matter with the spa manager and resolve it, but that hasn’t happened. Guests are being taken for granted. The spa manager’s behavior was especially disappointing. He was unprofessional and disrespectful in his interaction with my wife. The lack of basic courtesy and accountability was unacceptable. As a Sterling member, I expected a certain standard of customer service and didn’t receive it. With this kind of service, we won’t recommend the hotel to other Sterling members we know. I hope the hotel takes this seriously and acts on it.

The location is a little tucked away, but still walkable. We had a very good stay with two kids, and the service and food were all top class. Special thanks to Saranya and Abirami on reception, partipan from transport, and ganesh on security. Thank you, sterling.
