Trippr Kodaikanal Backpacker Hostel

Shiva, the host, made me feel at home with how warm and friendly he was. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though simple, minimal, old school, and definitely not luxurious. That fits the backpacker feel. You come for the atmosphere, the views, and the people, not fancy interiors. The property sits high up in Kodaikanal, with clear night skies, loads of stars, and even shooting stars if you’re lucky. I saw a few. There are quiet, raw viewpoints nearby that don’t seem to get the usual tourist crowds, and the host is happy to show you where they are. The photos I shared are from those spots. As a solo traveler, this was easily one of my best stays. If you like being away from the tourist rush, having meaningful conversations, and enjoying some isolation, this place is a must visit.

Peak season was on when I arrived, but Shiva somehow found a spot for me. I hadn’t planned this hostel stay in Kodaikanal and didn’t even know how many days I’d stay. Then I met the people there, especially Shiva, and ended up staying four or five days instead of one. He looked after me with a warmth and hospitality my own family would envy. The evenings had a magical atmosphere, the food was amazing, and the vibe was fantastic. The location and everything about the place felt perfect. I’ve stayed at probably 50-plus hotels and other places, but this experience is one I’ll never forget. Highly recommend it. Shiva ❤️

I spent Christmas and New Year’s Eve at the hostel, and those were the best few days of my year. I got to meet lots of people from different walks of life and different states of India. Manager Shiva was wonderful, such a vibe, and made sure everyone had a good time. Thanks for putting me up.

The host, shiva, loves music and treated me and the other travelers with real patience and respect. After dinner he lit a campfire, and I had some great conversations getting to know everyone who stayed that night. A great place to stay, and I met great people from different states.
