The kind, courteous staff made our four-night family stay in the Perumal Malai View Room pleasant, and the location is very convenient. Coaker's Walk and Bryant Park are close to the entrance, with Kodaikanal Lake and the local market also walkable. The valley scenery is lovely from the room balcony and the restaurant's front yard. Breakfast was a highlight, with a strong South Indian selection and a few à la carte choices. Regular meals were only average by comparison. Rooms in all categories felt a little expensive for the facilities, and the property can be noisy: there's the nearby road, open parking by Kodai Resort, early morning sounds from churches and a mosque across the valley, and people continually heading to Coaker’s Walk. Kodaikanal's cool weather may explain the lack of AC, but there are no ceiling fans either, which some guests might want for gentle ventilation. Room heaters would also be useful in the cold winter and rainy season. We enjoyed the stay for its views, convenient access, and warm hospitality, though room amenities, pricing, and noise management could all be improved.

I can't recommend staying here. The staff were helpful and the food was good, but the room smelled strongly of damp and seemed poorly maintained. My mother and I struggled to stay in the room through the night and had trouble breathing. Management knew about the issue but continued leasing the room, which felt unfair. The manager on duty kindly refunded us for the remaining two days, but that doesn't undo what we went through. This is a three-star accommodation charging over 6k per night.

The misty hills outside our window were lovely to look at again and again. Our wooden room felt warm and luxurious, and the resort had a pleasant, peaceful atmosphere, nice garden, clean room, and thoughtful care. It's very close to the main city busstand in kodai. The food was nice too, and the stay felt well worth the money. Thanks to Villa Retreat manager and staff for looking after us.

Villa Retreat is a peaceful, comfortable option for families exploring Kodaikanal. Its spot near the lake makes it easy to enjoy the lake and nearby attractions on the first day, then head out to other scenic places the next. We had a wonderful stay.

The complimentary buffet was generous and delicious, and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed. The team made the stay memorable. Amzath Khan, Shankar, and Chitra from the restaurant gave amazing service, and Reception Staff Buvaneswari was attentive and friendly too. They checked that we had what we needed and were always ready to help. Villa Retreat had a serene atmosphere, and we had a truly wonderful time there. Highly recommended.
