Gandhisagar Forest Retreat

The river-facing view is a real highlight and made the stay feel especially relaxing. The food was delicious, and the staff were courteous and helpful. Just keep in mind that the retreat is inside a wildlife sanctuary, so children need to be supervised at all times. It’s a pleasant, peaceful place for guests who are mindful of the natural surroundings.

The sunset over the Chambal river was beautiful, and the jungle safari and other activities made it exciting to experience the wildlife up close. The rooms and tents were clean, comfortable, and well kept, while the staff were polite and quick to help. The fresh food was delicious, especially the gulab jamun, which was outstanding. At around 250-270 km from Indore, it made for a lovely road trip. A refreshing mix of nature, comfort, and adventure for a family or friends getaway. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place is best for a short 1-2 day break if you’d rather be surrounded by nature than fancy amenities. Food is basic but satisfying, and the whole atmosphere feels slow and grounding. Mornings bring birdsong, a cool breeze, and greenery; evenings are quiet, with sunsets and a sky full of stars. The stay itself is simple and comfortable, without much luxury, which suits the raw, untouched feel of the dense forest and calm waters near Gandhisagar Dam. Not for a luxury trip, but a lovely way to disconnect and breathe.

The riverside cottage rooms have lovely views and seem ideal for relaxing for 2-3 days. Staff were friendly, supportive, and very polite, and the food was good. There’s also a telescope for stargazing, which is a must-try. Had a great time at the resort.
