Hotel Tara Palace

We paid 5000 rupees for two nights. The room was dusty and moldy, so we changed rooms, but the replacement still wasn’t clean. We were too tired to move again. They’d told us hot water would be available from 6:00-9:00 am, but when I got up at 8:30 there wasn’t any. The manager then said we should wait about 30 minutes, something he hadn’t mentioned the day before. We packed our bags and asked for a refund for one night. He wouldn’t give us the full amount, so we accepted half and left. My girlfriend also tried to rate the hotel on booking, but they blocked her from doing so. Horrible experience. Don’t you dare walk into this hotel.

The people were good, and we were upgraded from a king-size room to a suite. It was spacious, with a large balcony and a beautiful view. But service was poor, and many things didn’t match what was stated at booking. There was no spa, bar, or restaurant, and no warm water around the clock. They followed a routine that felt like a hostel.

The balcony view was awesome, which is the only reason I’m giving two stars. We had to pay cash, and I don’t know why they don’t accept cards. The shower and WiFi didn’t work, and the AC sometimes didn’t work either. There was no room service, so we had to go to the lobby for water. Monkeys can get into your room while you’re out, so keep the balcony door shut.

There were no towels, and the intercom wasn’t working. We’d booked a room based on what they promised, but it wasn’t as agreed. When we asked to change rooms, staff said we’d have to forget the 1000 rupees and rebook. We arrived very late with family, so we did. They’d also assured us breakfast was included, then denied it. The rooms were pathetic, there was a monkey menace, and the staff were rude and discourteous. Never visit this property.
