Hotel Highway Palace

The people are lovely, and the room service is really good. There are two adorable pets, a dog and a cat, who greet people so sweetly. I really liked the service, but the nightly price could be a little lower. Otherwise, I’d give it 4 stars.

The rooms are air-conditioned and have TVs, with some also offering a sofa set and a queen bed. I liked the clean bathrooms, the paintings in the rooms, and the decorative plants along the corridor. There’s parking under the building, and a nice view from the top. The hotel is lovely and clean, though it feels a bit remote. Once inside, you can forget about that. The food tastes great, but the price is the one thing to watch.

The hotel’s surroundings were a big letdown: trucks and tyre shops at the entrance, with no restaurants, cafes, or nearby places to visit. Food was expensive and options they listed in the menu were limited when we asked. The room linens, towel, and toilet seat were all extremely dirty. I had already paid at check-in, but at checkout they charged me again for an amount they said was pending. They claimed they couldn’t fix it because the memo had been prepared. That was really unprofessional. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. Total waste of money and a terrible experience.

The front desk staff were exceptionally polite, almost so simple and pleasant that I felt bad complaining about the muddy tap water or leaving without breakfast despite paying for it. The water stayed dirty until I threw out six or seven buckets. Breakfast doesn’t begin until 8, and there’s no bed tea. I ended up at Hotel Highway Palace after Hotel Bhargav Grand cancelled my reservation without telling me until I arrived in Guwahati. It’s outside the city, with large rooms, comfortable beds, generally pleasant staff apart from the kitchen staff, and cheap rent. That’s about all it has going for it.
